Last night, FIL was coo-ing at Baby Raine in front of Roy and when FIL wanted to sayang him, he turned his face away and refused!
Kids! *rolls eyes*
I try to give him time when Baby Raine is sleeping, so he knows that Mommy still loves him like before. I'm glad though, that when I tell him to "kiss mei mei", he'll do it.
He seems to be growing into the Terrible Two stage a little too early (he just turned 1 two weeks ago). Although he doesn't say "NO!", he shows his refusal in his own ways. Like throwing his toys around. Like not swallowing his porridge and refusing to eat his meals properly. Like attempting to blow bubbles with water/food/milk in his mouth so that the water/food/milk flies around the place.
I wish my confinement will end soon, so that I can have a good shampoo. My hair feels so darn oily. I'm listening to my MIL for once about not washing my hair because hubby is so sweet, I really don't want to make him angry. After all, he has the best intentions for me. He would be the one to get up and get Baby Raine from her cot + her formula so that I can feed her when she cries for feeds in the middle of the night; before he goes to work he'd warm up a bottle of bird's nest and bring it to our room for me; he's been reminding me not to shower and wash my hair, fearing that I'd get aches and pains; he even stopped mahjong for me. Temporarily. But that's enough for me to know that he really cares.
And I have a question.
Are newborns supposed to be so oily? My Baby Raine has oily hair and an oily face. Although she gets her bath in the morning and her hair is washed and face is cleaned, they still get oily after a while. Her hair looks wet all the time and her face is forever oily to the touch. And she hates not being swaddled. After swaddling, she expects to be covered with a fleece blanket, double layered, as in, folded in half so that it's like she's covered with 2 fleece blankets. She really likes to be kept very warm. Roy is different. He'd sweat buckets if I were to cover him up like this, even when he was little.
Hubby is so cute. For two nights in a row, he has been making me laugh. He'd prepare formula for Baby Raine at 3.30am and go back to sleep. I'd do the feeding and putting her back to her cot. At 5.30 or 6am, when she wakes for another feed, hubby would ask "Huh? That bottle I made is not enough for her?" And I'd go "That was for the previous feed. It's time for her next feed now."
OH! We chose to name her Raine because it means "Queen", begins with "R" and sounds sweet. She looks really sweet too. And her chinese name is 歆颖. Nice right!
Is that a smile or what?
congrats on baby raine!
ReplyDeletedunno if this would help, but my boss bought her older kids toys when her youngest was born and told them that the toys were presents for them by their baby sister... she also got them to help in watching over the baby and they did fuss less after that, so it might be worth a try...
