Don't you sometimes find it amusing that after going round in circles, you end up doing what you initially did? There could be many reasons, like, you've invested time and money studying in that area or that's where your interest is or some other weird reasons like, my boyfriend likes me to do that.
So, after years of going round different departments, I think I still like the Operations aspect of my industry.
As much as I would like to do work that is Science-based, I now think that my knowledge is best reserved for my personal entertainment and for sharing with my children.
Just the other day, at a Malaysian cousin's wedding dinner, Roy asked me what ice is and Why it becomes water after a while. I explained to my 5 year old who is soon turning 6 in another 4.5 weeks, that ice is just water in the solid state. When it is frozen, it's ice. When it melts and becomes a liquid, it's water, but they're both essentially the same. My sister gaped at me and said he won't understand that! I said he may not fully understand immediately, but he will understand. The more you expose him to such knowledge, the better he will understand.
Just like whenever he's flipping through the Earth & Space book which I bought him as a birthday gift, he will point to the illustrations and ask me questions. He has ever asked me what a star is, and I just answered him with a straight face that a star is a giant ball of very, very hot gas and dust.
Last weekend we watched the lunar eclipse and he asked me what's going on and why the moon is brown (reddish, actually). Again, I told him, matter-of-factly, that a lunar eclipse happens when the sun, Earth and moon are in a straight line and the sun casts the shadow of the Earth on the moon.
Children are inquisitive, don't turn their questions away with silly answers just because you're lazy to explain or lazy to find out the proper answer.
Eh, I realised that I've digressed too much.. lol
So yeah, I'll be taking a break from work soon, in another 3 weeks! And when i return to work, I hope I'll be doing something I am good at and happy to do because work kinda sucks now!
